Dear humans,
Grave Humor lurks on the horizon. The female checked on the preorders for it today. We are officially at the “if the release week goes exceptionally well, there is a chance the book might make it to USA Today” stage of the game. As such, she is putting together an ad campaign for the book. Honestly, she’s not expecting much, but she’s going to try. There is something to be said about trying.
If you don’t try, you automatically fail. So, she is going to try.
If you spot the book on Facebook, please give the ad a click and leave a comment about how you love the series. It really helps. We’re not above begging.
Does anyone have a thousand friends who would like a book with a floppy-eared dog, humor, and a dragon? (Hint: there’s a dragon.) Okay, so the dragon is only it in for a short time, but there is a dragon!!
Dragon. Dragon!
Yes, it is the same dragon from Whatever for Hire.
Satin is also in the book.
Do I really need a sales pitch other than that?
You can preorder Grave Humor from the following vendors:
If you have already preordered the book, which comes out in less than a month, high paw to you! It’s my hind paw, but my hind paws are precious. LOOK AT MY TOE BEANS.
Absolutely precious.
Please support our treat fund through the preordering and enjoyment of Grave Humor. Thank you!
Here are some general updates for you:
The female is handwriting Pretty Little Thief in the evenings along with her other play projects. No estimated date yet, but you could talk her into establishing a preorder for it possibly for sometime in 2021. She might add it to the list of preorders she will be doing but hasn’t set dates up for yet.
Catnapped will be the Birthday Book for 2021. Preorder link will go live around the same time Grave Humor launches.
Grave Humor is this year’s birthday book. The female would really like USA Today for her birthday. (Insert hopeful kitty faces here.)
What? She does! It’s on her bucket list.
General updates:
The form for receiving a letter, card, or post card from the female is still open. All countries welcomed. We purchased global stamps specifically for the purpose of sending letters, cards, and postcards internationally. If you’re having a card, etc, sent as a gift, please make a note in the comment box with your name and what the occasion is. We’ll add a little note before sending it out.
So far, the female ordered enough stamps, but the form is looking mighty fine, and she’d be thrilled if she could send even more cards, letters, and postcards.
The postcards are for the Royal States series. Please feel free to fill out a form a second time if you would like a postcard. Please leave a note in the comment you want a postcard, please!
If you’re the send-a-postcard type, the female would love to receive something from you! She’s pretty shy, so she often doesn’t get the courage to directly reply to the letters and cards she receives, but she keeps them all and loves them dearly. Postcards would be lovely. She especially likes kittens, puppies, watercolor art, nature scenes, and so on. if she gets enough actual postcards, she will make a little scrapbook for them! (Letters don’t scrapbook too well, but she likes those, too!)
Here is the address to send postcards to:
R.J. Blain / Pen & Page Publishing
PO Box 2663
Cupertino, CA 95015
We even got the zip code right this time!
Pat #3 (Royal States) is being picked at over the weekends. We have decided that, for now, Taken and Pat #3 will hang in the ether. When Taken releases, the series will be renumbered to include it, as it is a full-length novel with a critical future character introduced into it.
We’re super excited about the changes. The female has sent the revised edition to her editor. A lot of new material went in. (Over 5,000 words of new content!)
So, Taken is officially a proper novel. It’s not a long novel, but it’s definitely a novel. As such, the price will be raised to $4.99 late in the day of its release. It’s currently $3.99, so please hit up your favorite vendor and snag a preorder or make a note on your calendar to grab it in the morning so you can take advantage of the discounted price.
The cover will be updated soon.
We can’t even remember what we’ve told you about upcoming plans and general release schedule, so we’re going to just redo the whole thing. Note: these are only Amazon links. They are available at all other vendors. We’re sorry we’re being a little lazy today. We have a huge to-do list, so we’re trying to be (almost) efficient.

We have other books we would also like to do, but we also do not want the female to die. We may not get to this entire list in 2021. We are going to try.
Also on the list of books she is going to desperately try to get ready for 2021, but will be kind to herself if it doesn’t get done:
- Silent Stalker: A Lowrance Vampires Novel (#2)
- The Prince of New York (Royal States)
- Pat #3 (Royal States)
- Pretty Little Thief (Royal States)
On the list of “Books that are constantly open on the female’s computer and she works on whenever time allows:
- Neck Deep: Vampire Archaeologist #1 (Fox Witch World)
And on the list of the female really, really, really wants to make time to do this and may deliberately lose an hour of sleep starting in May to accomplish this goal:
- Space Opera Trilogy
- Pretty Little Thief (Royal States)
- Pretty Little Thief (Royal States)
- Pretty Little Thief (Royal States)
- New Waters (Royal States)
- Pretty Little Thief…
- …. you get the idea.
Now, the female is going back to work, or there’s not a chance in hell all of this stuff will be done on time. Have a good day, humans!
Cathy
The list is fantastic and exhausting…I dont know how you can write so many wonderful books so fast..I love all of them and looking forward to having all of them so I can read and reread them often….and Pretty Little Thief looks fantastic…dont forget to take time to eat..sleep and breathe..hugs??
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
I work 12+ hours a day, and lately, I’ve been working 7 days a week, although my weekend hours are closer to 5-6 rather than 12. But yes, I spend most of my time working on the books. 🙂
snapdragon
I have to admit I am tired just reading the list for what you have coming out for the remainder of this year and next year. I love your books but please don’t kill yourself !
Paying the bills is a different deal but having to do so much would make me brain dead and I would have to reboot for a bit. I have to tip my hat to you on managing.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Yep, I need to pay the bills, and that means busting ass to make it happen. I have loyal, wonderful fans, but I don’t have enough loyal, wonderful fans to have much longer between book releases to make enough to live where I do, and I want my husband to be able to keep his dream job, which is located in a ridiculously expensive area.
And both my husband and I are terrified of dodging bankruptcy… again. We started our marriage broke and poor, and we grew up poor, and we don’t want to go back there, so we both work really, really hard.
Cynthia Emery
You must need more sleep! Love love the magical.body count but I just reread Ginger Snapped for the third time and really enjoyed it. Glad to see another one coming and will have to look up.her/your backlist. Please take care of yourself and your management team! Oh and the hubs of course! Thanks again for your books. I have read and reread the body count books with this bloody stay home stay away thing. They have helped a great deal. But I am considering.trying to work the books into a quilt theme or maybe an Afghan. Good thing you have more books coming. I am a desperate old woman!!!
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
I’m trying to make an afghan, and I’m doing it very slowly and badly! But I do really like the pattern… I just really, really suck at the actual crochet. Eep!! <3
Cynthia Emery
My favorite trick is easy pattern and Pretty Yarn. If someone sees it they don’t say Oh gee what a n easy pattern. I knit as well so it ggives my hands breaks with different muscles. Don’t remember if you knitting but knifing continental style is very similar to crochet believe it o r not. You .ight look It Up on your imaginary spare time!! Thanks again for all the stories!
Lynn
I usually get the Royal States books (and steal my sister’s kindle to read the other series), but pre ordered grave humor. Good luck on your goal for hitting the list!
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Aww, thank you so very much!!
Tina in NJ
I currently have a book crush on Ian of New York, so I’m eagerly awaiting Prince of New York. I don’t remember reading about Pretty Little Thief before. I’m sure it’ll be great if the female is so into it. I’ve always loved otters, too. But please, don’t let the female work herself too hard.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Pretty Little Thief is just a pure joy write for me. Just pure joy. <3
Michele
I will wait impatiently for everything on your lists. But I do want you to get enough rest and relaxation. Stay safe and write on!
Ruth Ray
I’m playing the pedantic role but Dirty Deeds and Client from Help should be 2021 unless you’ve found a way to gift is with time machines which I think we would love. All books are on preorder. Just anticipating the reading enjoyment.;-) 😉
The cat, who is definitely a jerk.
Years are hard. Paws are trained for 2020. Human very sleepy. Whoops! We shall correct our time travel footpah in the morning.
jenn
On one hand you defiantly work too hard, on the other I definatly love the outcome of you working too hard…. So many books to read and reread. My favourite of your series is Jesse Alexander. I understand this falls into your labour or love writing, and I think, expanded to a 4 part series. This is in no way putting pressure on you but is the third book somewhere in your long long list of books to write or does it fall into hoping to find space to write it in a few years…until then I can survive in the re reads and the future anthology that is planned….. Despite my dislike of anthologys cause they are too short.
Judith
I love them all. Rereading them this week. Everything is preordered. Will continue to preorder all your books as they show up.Love your writing, your sense of humor and your stories. ((I love happily ever afters, even if the road is rocky.)) Will continue ordering your preorders as they become available. Thanks again. When I look for books ( this is every time I log in) you are the first author I look up.
Kristine
Wait, there is a comment option? What have I been doing with my life?! Oh, right, battling asthma and chronic hives and migraines and all the medications related to. I am doing all the things today. Is it bad that I drooled over the upcoming book list? I’m okay with the manic giggling, but the drooling worries me. Also, I too am playing Asthma or Plague and being held captive by cats! All hail our Feline Overladies and Lords! I may have to send a card just to send cat pictures. On an unrelated note, what specific type of hot chocolate mix does the female like? No reason…. >.> <.<
