Dear humans,
Did you hear that screamy sound? That was the female. Apparently, her sanity is gone. Just gone. This picture of the female’s BOOX is an excellent representation of the situation.
So. Kickstarter. What is it? Why is it? When is it?
The kickstarter happened last year. Why? Female wanted to do the trade version, didn’t want to foot the bill by herself.
Rather than the like 26-something books anticipated, her entire catalogue funded.
There is a great deal of work involved preparing 50-something books for paperback editions. The female might be crying in a corner. (She’ll be okay.)
The dropcards, however, are murdering her sanity. She’s halfway done the process (Mag Rom Coms and Royal States are now ready.) Witch & Wolf and the Bernie books will be a little longer.
She Just Cannot right now.
There is essentially zero chance of the books being ready by the initial May deadline. We calculated for 20-something books, not for 50-something books. (We’ve mentioned this before.)
We did not mention that the changing timelines are a Serious Source of Distress. The female truly hates missing deadlines. But like… you simply cannot squeeze that many spreads into that little time.
Long story short, we don’t know when everything will be finished.
Now, a note directly from the female:
So this is how it is going to work. I am going to open a backerkit store for those who missed the kickstarter. The books will be priced at $25 each. I have not figured out the shipping problems yet. ALL books will be $25 regardless of length. Those who missed the kickstarter itself will only get excess swag I happen to have kicking around. I do not know when I will open the preorder store, only that I will open/close it as my sanity allows. I’ve been asked numerous times about the books for those who missed the kickstarter, and well… this is the best I can do.
Please try not to go into a flailing panic. I only know I CAN do this with the tool, but those who participated in the kickstarter will get their stuff first. I will close the preorder store when I am wrapping up the fulfillment of the kickstarter participants.
So, work is getting done on the kickstarter, but the specifics are still underway.
I will tell you what IS happening with it, though:
All books will be individually wrapped. In wrapping paper, because I fucking like wrapping paper.
All books will be signed.
The kickstarter people get bismuth.
Everyone else gets to be like sharks, circling to get whatever is left over.
I have so many crayons in my apartment it’s disgusting. Y’all are getting fucking crayons. TAKE THE FUCKING CRAYONS. (You are also getting coloring book pages, so this is a good thing, right?)
And now, I’m going to go try to breathe, because this, honestly, is a wee bit anxiety inducing.
But yes, for those of you who missed the kickstarter, you will be able to pay the kickstarter rate of $25 per book for signed copies.
On average, the books will be $14.99 to $18.99 at retail stores due to printing price increases. It is absolutely cheaper to buy retail… but no signature or little hearts and a wish for you to read happily.
I am going to try to breathe now. Wish me luck.
Adena
Breathe gently. I helped fund the Kickstarter and while I would love to receive my prizes (yay!) in May, I am okay with getting them later. Your sanity and well-being are more important. Seriously, I can wait!!

Go, woman! You are spectacular!

Thank you for doing this, both the printing and the keeping us posted on progress.
When the books are ready will be soon enough. They are lovely books and I will be happy whenever they arrive. I will read ebooks until then and like it.
I promise I will not bug you about the “when”.
(I know I am part of the problem. I bought a LOT of books. Not sorry. Never sorry about buying books. I am sorry if I contributed to stress.)
Love to the furry overlords from Karat and Bahzell.

What Adena said – in spades 🙂

I don’t remember what tier I sponsored. But one day a package will arrive with pretty paper and a crayon, my husband will not understand my JOY!

Yay books! Boo stress! Thanks for the progress report. Sometime, I will get a lovely surprise in the mail. And I will be very happy. Until then, I have ebooks.

Does this mean your books will not be available for audible use? My hands no longer allow me to hold books so I rely heavily on Alexa and Kindle. Do love your books and am sorry for the pressure you are under.

Audiobook production is a completely separate endeavor.

I have trouble holding books and at times my kindle. I have found that those recipe book holders work well. I can adjust it as needed. These books are Sooooo worth it!

Don’t worry I am happy to wait as it makes it all the better and the screams and squeals louder in my house

I would gladly take ALL the fucking crayons, I LOVE crayons!!! I might have a small problem. Especially when I did a really small kindness for someone and they asked my friend what to get as a thank you (where none was necessary at all) and said friend said- “a box of crayons.” So, yeah a small problem… ?
You are dealing with MUCH, MUCH more adulting that I would want too! Good luck with the breathing! Make the Furred Management earn their keep by letting you pet them copiously. As if you can ever make a cat do something…that might be more stressful… By the way, I just found Jesse Alexander, I love her so much!!! Thank you for all you write!

Thank you for the idea!
