Happy book birthday, 101 Ways to Die!
IMPORTANT REMINDER: The price for 101 Ways to Die will be increasing to $5.99 tomorrow morning. If you preordered, the preorder price is honored, as the book released today. This applies to ALL vendors. (The per novel patreons paid the standard $5.99 rate, which applies to ALL books ranging in price to $4.99 to $7.99.)
The original short novel, save for some typo corrections, is the same as it was in theDirty Deeds 2 anthology. However, it has four new short stories following the adventures and misadventures of McMarin and her new friend! These are slices of life stories, and I hope that you enjoy them!
For those of you reading on Patreon (Monthly or Per Novel), Smashwords, B&N, Kobo, Apple Books, or through the various public library systems, I hope that you enjoy the pilot! As these networks do not have error-reporting tools, I’m able to show you some of the fun behind-the-scenes stuffs that would not be otherwise published due to Amazon’s error-reporting tool.
Expect to find pilots and other shenanigans moving forward at these vendors. And yes… because they are pilots, because they are things I would not otherwise publish, Amazon CANNOT receive these stories.
I am penalized when people report errors, and these pilots have errors. They have plot foopahs. They have consistency mistakes. That is because these are behind the scenes works that I normally put in a little drawer and keep to myself while pondering what gets turned into a book and what does not get turned into a book.
As such, Amazon will not be receiving the pilots and bonus experimental works I will be including in the back of every novel moving forward. If you want the experimental stories, you will need to purchase on Smashwords to be able to sideload the book into your kindle or request it from your public library to read via Overdrive or similar library apps.
Should Amazon change their error reporting policies, the pilots and drivel short stories will be added to their original titles (beginning with 101 Ways to Die). Until then, I recommend purchasing from Smashwords or making use of the Per Novel Patreon.
The Patrons have been using the bookfunnel app, which I hear is a very pleasant reading experience!
P.S.: Due to Amazon’s restrictions on bonus content, the pilots and bonus short stories that do not have covers stating there are bonus tales within must be less than 10% of the length of the main title. Should Amazon remove its error reporting tool, this may result in Amazon not receiving some pilots due to their length. (Because unfortunately… people will report the bonus pilots should they exceed this length.)
Final bit of news… I bought this new ereader, and I absolutely LOVE it. It is an absolute dream to hold, I love having buttons to click to turn pages, but I can swipe / interact with the screen if I want to.
Isn’t it pretty?! HIGHLY recommended. It is so much nicer than ANY of my kindles.
So… let’s talk about Meredith, shall we? Yay or Nay?

Yay, indeed!
Wendi
Yay fun
Rick
agreed, YAY! out of curiousity, were you able to hold it in your hands before buying? I saw the Rakuten Kobo imprint, and in my area, I’m not aware of any retailers carrying that brand.
Live long and prosper, Meredith!
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
No, it’s a Canadian brand. I’ve been using Kobos for a while, and in Canada, you absolutely can go into the store to hold them! But they’re a Canadian company, and they ship the devices in from Canada. 🙂
The shipping is free and it takes about a week to get the device.

I’m enjoying reading 101 Ways to Die–I preordered it! Thanks
Can you put all your kindle and nook books on the Kobo reader? I’m looking for a reader that will let me transfer all the books I already own, so they’re all on one device.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
No. The only device that is e-ink that I know of that can do this is a BOOX; I have two BOOX’s, and they’re e-ink android tablets.
For a kindle paperweight sized one, the Nova Air C is what I have. I prefer the kobo reading experience, though, so I’m just gradually rebuying my books and just reading on my phone for the rest.

Definitely yay!

Do you have to use Bluetooth to listen to audio on your new reader and can you plug a speaker into it?
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
I do not use audiobooks, sorry. They cause me anxiety. You’d have to contact Kobo support and ask them.
Pence
And I’ve been having a happy chuckle over the extras in 101ways to die. Great fun. Thanks

R.J., I had pre-ordered through Amazon & have subscribed to your short story Patreon. Is there a bonus short story not included in the Amazon edition? If so, will I purchase it through the short story Patreon? Sorry if I’m being dim about how this will work going forward. Say hi to the furred management.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
The bonus stories in the novels aren’t included in the short story patreon. They’re exclusive to the novel that they’re attached to. The per novel and monthly patreon users (in the $10+ tiers) will get access to the bonus stories in addition to any vendor other than Amazon.
And yes, there is a story not included in the Amazon edition due to their error reporting policies. (And if any other vendor picks up the same policies, they will lose access to the bonus stories as well.) But none of the other vendors have indicated they’re putting content controls like that on books being sold through them.

I’m trying to get the paperback copy of 101 Ways to Die for my Mom; she will not buy any digital books (long story) and I’ve been buying her hard copies of your funniest books. 🙂
Let me know when we can order the hard copy on Amazon (or elsewhere; I’ll figure it out once I have a “store” to order the paperback).
Thanks!
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
I’m going to try to get the files down for the designer before I leave for Australia, but it probably won’t get done until my return from my holiday. Just bad timing.
