I will not be doing work tomorrow outside of some mandatory background stuff that I need to do daily. As such, here is your reminder about the release of Old Secrets!
This is the conclusion of Karma’s trilogy. There will not be any more novels featuring Jake and Karma. You will receive some novellas and shorts with these characters in future Witch & Wolf themed anthologies.
Please don’t ask for more Jake and Karma novels. They’re finished. This series is done! Done like dinner! Mhmm. Dinner.
I am listing your options for purchase at where I, as the creator, receive the highest amount of pay. Please note that in the case of Smashwords, the sale link won’t go live until tomorrow.
Patreon Shop: This version does not have the Patreon notes. This version does have the bonus sneak peek. You need to download the file and sideload into your favorite retailer. Note: I receive something like 85% of the retail price (platform fees, etc.) (You can purchase and begin reading immediately; it’s already live and available for sale.)
Smashwords: You will be emailed your epub file from this vendor. This version does have the bonus sneak peek. This is the best of the retail versions of the book for royalties.
Barnes & Noble: I’m paid early, I’m paid well, and they have been doing a fabulous job trying to improve their vendor game. This version does have the bonus sneak peek.
Kobo: This is my preferred vendor, although between kobo plus and royalties and time for payment, it’s a hair behind Barnes & Noble for raw creator compensation. This version does have the bonus sneak peek.
Amazon: Amazon likes to nickel and dime creatives to death, plus that stupid idiotic corrections tool. (They are a vendor/retailer, they are not editors, nor do I want random people with zero qualifications known to me editing my books. I would rather have errors in the books.) But, alas, this is where the volume of readers are at. This version does NOT have the bonus sneak peek due to the error reporting tool, nor will it get these sneak peeks or any bonus material until the error reporting tool is retired.
Apple Books: Their system is horrible to use, so I have to use an aggregator to distribute, so it puts it as the lowest paying of the vendors at the moment. (I do not have the mental real estate to deal with their system.) I still like them (for the most part) as a vendor! This version does have the bonus sneak peek.
Happy reading!
P.S.: The next book to be released is Whiskers on Kittens, and I’d very much like to hit the new USA Today list with it (although it’s looking very questionable.) If you’d like to give me a Christmas present of any sort… a preorder or purchase at Amazon, Apple Books, Kobo, or Barnes and Noble would be fabulous.
This’ll probably be the last time I deliberately try for USA Today, mainly because none of the upcoming books on my schedule have a hope in hell of hitting the list for more than a few reasons. ^^; (I could try again with the next Mag Rom Com, but as people keep wanting to see series completed, that’s a huge part of my focus for 2024. I don’t expect another Mag Rom Com until 2025 (as in I’ll write it in 2025), although I might squeeze one in. We’ll see.)
I could be talked into sliding in one extra into the series as compensation for hitting USA Today, though. You know, like Doggone Mess got major expansions for Dirty Deeds hitting the list. I can be bought. So what???
Just for the curious, I’d need… uhm… probably a thousand more sales at Amazon, a hundred and fifty over at barnes and noble and apple (each), and fifty over at kobo to have a realistic chance of hitting the list. Wish me luck. I’ll need it.
I’m giving it a 25% chance of hitting at this point of time… but I figure… if I don’t ask, I definitely cannot receive. (And as an author, very little beats USA Today as a Christmas present, especially as an indie without the backing of a publisher.)
Happy reading.

If I get my books from my Parteon subscription, does this count toward the USA Today list if I post a review on Good Reads?
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
No. You must purchase from one of the participating retailers. Goodreads is not a vendor.

This is a bummer because it doesn’t help you and so no goodies for me. But I love my membership so… Have a happy holiday and send him back to work! Mine’s retired so 24/7 underfoot.

Due to my fall last year resulting in a broken hip and fractured femur, I am restricted to my Nook only. Your work helps keep my mind in gear and my chaotic/surly self on the plus side. In other words, thank you and looking forward to it.

As expected, 5 stars and a lot of fun! Noticed you left Midnight untouched {gr}.

THANK YOU thank you thank you!!!

I only order/buy her books on Barnes and noble. I haven’t used Amazon to buy her books for two years. Works well for me. Glad B&N treats her well.

Do purchases outside America count towards USA list? I’d be happy to shop on an American website for this purchase.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Unfortunately not, unless you use a VPN/an American address and can sneak it in that way with a gift card ^^; But… if you use a VPN, open an account using said VPN, and make the purchase during release week, then it technically would count. lol
But Amazon and the other vendors keep their libraries separate, etc, so it would just cause you more problems than you may want. (Appreciated, though!)

So, I am sad, glad and embarrassed. I, without verifying, somehow had a thought that Old Secrets was part 3 of the Librarians series. So, to that end, I reread the first 2. But, I had a horrific moment when I started Old Secrets, where I realized that Jake was not Bradley, and I was totally confused. Apparently that happens more frequently than not when one goes over the 60 mark. Anyway, I’m sad, because now I have to go read Karma and License to Kill before I can get back to Old Secrets. I’m glad because I have some more good stuff to read to look forward to, and I’m embarrassed because, well, because I didn’t verify what I was doing, and that’s all on me. Anyway, c’est la vie, and it’s off to another marathon reading session…..

Don’t feel bad. I thought the same when I heard the title (plus I’m eagerly looking forward to the next Librarian series book, too) so it took me a little bit to get into the story and I’ll be rereading this series so that I get the full experience. Being over 60 isn’t for sissies.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Pro tip: all the Librarian books begin with “Booked for” so you should be able to avoid this admittedly hilarious mistake in the future.
