Obligatory kitten picture. Because look at those sweet little kittens!
I’ll try to keep this somewhat brief.
1: Life-Debt is involved with a sampler promotion to help you find new books! All of the books (should be) in the Kobo Plus program, so if you’re looking for some science fiction romancey type books, please give this a click!
This promotion basically takes you to the retailers the books are sold at, so you can shop around for the books that look interesting. Check out the Kobo Plus offerings, since you can read a bunch of these books in that program. (Well, at least mine are in it. Some will be, some won’t be. It’s really just friends helping friends by sharing books with readers!)
(Pretty please give a click and check out if any of the books are up your alley. And if you missed Life-Debt (it was previously in Pets in Space) I’d love if you clicked through and gave it a little bit of love!
2: Whiskers on Kittens drops on Tuesday. Now is the time to preorder if you preorder, and if you don’t, be prepared to grab your copy next week! (Pretty please with a cherry on top? I like eating food… a lot, actually. I really like tacos. I had tacos and nachos for lunch with a friend. We ordered in! It was delicious. I ran free with the wind in my hair!)
You can preorder at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Apple Books.
If you were hoping to catch the per novel Patreon, I’m sorry to inform you that the deadline to get in on that is already over. (Sorry, sorry!)
Yes, I’d love to hit USA Today, and that’s the Christmas present I’d really, really like this year. Telling your friends the book is coming would be an absolute gift. (Thank you in advance!)
A Very Tentative Publishing Schedule:
I am making really good progress on all the books coming out in 2024, so I’ve started making plans for my writing binge. I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ll give a brief recap: I’m going to binge writing books like most people go after an unattended steak or a pint of ice cream. I am going to scatter “editorial and production” weeks in a test for productivity. The goal is to write 12 books in 12 months. (This is ambitious, it will probably fail.)
Here are the books (in the order they will release, not necessarily the order they’ll be written.) If I fail at my ambitious attempt, that’s fine, I will just not release them until they’re done/ready.
It’s a grand experiment to see if I can. And if I can, I will be taking a few months off to do what I want, leisurely write, and maybe travel. (I can’t travel the first half of 2025 because of personal reasons, and my husband isn’t keen on traveling much in 2024, because let’s face it, 2023 was exhausting.) So, since I can’t do fun stuff ANYWAY, I’m conducting this experiment instead.
- October 2024: Iron Unicorn (Agents of the Royal States)
- November 2024: Partner in Crime (Magic, Mayhem, and the Law in Precinct #153)
- December 2024: Dragon Her Heels (Mag Rom Com)
- January 2025: Murder Floof (Bernadette Franklin)
- February 2025: Death Dance (Lowrance Vampires #3, series finale.)
- March 2025: Dual Nature (Nature of the Beast #2, Sean #2, series finale.)
- April 2025: Death’s Door (Fox Witch #3, series finale)
- May 2025: Herding Polecats (Mag Rom Com)
- June 2025: Stone Bound (Jesse Alexander #3)
- July 2025: Achlys (Seeking the Zodiacs #2)
- August 2025: Edge of Midnight (Wolf Hunt #3, series finale.)
- September 2025: Prince of New York (Royal States)
Please note that this is a grand experiment that may change. If I find the experiment trashes my mental health, I will apply the brakes and do something else. If people are riding my ass about it, I will apply the brakes and do something else. If I’m at all unhappy with the experiment, I will apply the brakes and do something else.
I love ambitious projects like this, I want to get these series finales out the door, and I want to do a 12 books in 12 months run for fucking fun.
So, please don’t ruin my fun with your concerns. If I did not want to do this, I would not be posting about it. I enjoy challenging myself. This shit is a DELIGHT for me. If I fail, so what? Some books come out later. If I succeed, though… but oh, if I succeed.
It’s not a “but what if you fall/fail?” question… it’s a “But what if I fly?” question.
Let me try to fly. I can fall on my ass. I do it all the time. Falling and failing does not hurt me. It does teach me, though. So, please let me have my ambitions, please let me chase the stars… and please just look forward to watching me fly or fall. It could go either way.
I didn’t get to where I’m at by being afraid of getting my ass scraped during a fall.
You can’t fly if you aren’t willing to fall.
So, just to start some conversations, excluding the books listed above, what would you like to see me working on next? Answer in the comments! Try to limit yourself to two or three things. “Everything!” “Anything!” are delightful answers. I mean, “Nothing” is also fine, if you’re doing it in the “Please go take a vacation after being so awesome.” (That’s the goal. An EPIC vacation. Where to be decided…)
So, please don’t worry… instead… rejoice that I just want to write. Because we all benefit when I have the urge to sit down and make magic happen.
But yes, please talk about which books you’d like to see after this batch. (Note: I’m already working on a lot of the books on the list, so this is just an extension of things I’m already doing. That’s why they’re on the list.)
Wheee!!
Happy Holidays, folks!!
Brenda Gervais
That is a very impressive line up–have all the fun working on it!
In terms of other books, I can’t remember the title–it was one of your new pseudonyms? There were lemmings falling from the sky, and dragons…Please say I’m not imagining things? I think that would be great to read
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
That is Grave Affairs, and it releases in May!
Brenda Gervais
Thank you!!!
Hallows
Serial Killer Princess story or the next book to A Client from Hell please and thank you 😊
Kelly Bowerman
Love the Life Debt world and would happily buy more in the series and I can’t get enough of Audrey Greene!!
Kelly
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
<3 I'm definitely doing more in the Life-Debt world of books, so hooray on that! I will be releasing the new edition of Experimental Voyage, although I don't know when; I'm debating if I will be expanding the storyline at all. (And if so, how.)
Tracie-Ann Gauntlett-Martone
Anything everything!!!! You are the author
Snapdragon
It sounds like you will get alot of enjoyment out of doing 1 book per month. I really look forward to several of the finales that your are doing. Declan, Sean and Pepper are going to be great romps and a Jade is completely going to ruin someones day. I am looking forward to reading all about it.
Plus, Jessie and Olivia are just great main characters.
I really am interested on the pirate unicorn and otter books you have been hinting about.
Patricia Schwindt
Thank you for Whiskers on Kittens! Looking forward to reading this weekend. I hope you enjoy your “freedom run” and the wind in your hair feels amazing. Regarding what I would like to see on your production schedule, since I have appreciated and enjoyed your offerings to date, I feel safe saying “you write your choices and I will read – with glee – what you offer.” Please enjoy your upcoming experiment and have a happy, loving, joyous holiday season with your husband, furbabies and friends. Thanks for being the fantastic (and prolific) author you are.
Jamie
Can’t wait! I hope you do go on an epic vacation.
Anything is great. I’m hoping for a bit more magic librarians and finding out what happens to Deidre!
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Deidre’s book comes out after Prince of New York, so that one is necessary before New Waters can release. 🙂
Jamie
Woot! Thank you for such good stories! Take care of yourself first.
Happy holidays!!
Chris K
I’d really love to see more from Audrey Greene.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
She has a book coming out in July.
LaPiccolinaFarm
Your list of upcoming books has me bouncing in my chair with excitement. I would love more of Dustin Walker / water witch. Or the Zodiac series. But really, Anything sounds pretty exciting.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Zodiacs is in the list! LOL
Jennifer Scully
Love the update, thanks! 😊 yes the kittens are adorable,
Erin
I would kill for more Bernadette Franklin… or VML…
MaryB
Lilith Daniels Grave Affairs, please.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
That releases in May, which is why it’s not on the list.
Diane
Do your best! Your books make me smile especially after a challenging day teaching physics to high school students.
Isabel
first, congrats on your ambitious project, best of luck! Second, book suggestions? I know that the’re not that popular, but I’d love to read the next book in the Vigilante Magical Librarians series. One of my favourites so far!
Catherine
Me too!
Amy
Went to preorder Whiskers only to discover I already did!🤣🤣. Looking forward to you flying on your book challenge!
Sarah
I’m so excited to see Edge of Midnight on the list. I’ve re-read Wolf Hunt 1 & 2 enough that they are comfort reads for me.
TastesLikeChicken
I was checking all the comments before writting exactly this! I am just happy Edge of Midnight is on the list at all 😊!
Shawnee M
So much of what I’m looking forward to (especially the finales) are already on the list, so yay! for that. 🙂 I am a big fan of pretty much everything you write (be it a pen name or your own) so I’ll be tickled with anything you choose to expend extra energy on… but since you asked, I’m interested in the Return of the Crusade and would love to see more of the Pirate Magic, Vigilante Librarians and the Dae Portals series. I hope you have fun with your grand experiment, and wish you a very Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.
Nancy
Anything Royal States would be my first choice, but really anything you want to work on.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Considering Royal States is opening and closing the show, I think you’ll be fine heh
Marcia
Looking forward to seeing you fly. Even if you don’t finish everything on your list, it won’t be falling or failing! Reading the list fills me with glee and anticipation, especially since there are already books coming out before that from the pre-order list. How you manage to write such wonderful books so quickly amazes and inspires me! I was surprised and excited to see Seeking the Zodiac slipping into the list. I understood your reasons for delaying them, but I’ve been looking forward to them. My aspirational wish list (with no pressure intended) would be Vigilante Magical Librarians #3 and New Waters (I’m just as excited about Ian as I am about Deidre), but you did ask… Happy Holidays and best wishes for a wonderful, inspired and joyful new year!
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Yeah, I can’t write New Waters until Prince of New York is out, so….. (It is what it is…)
I’m not talking to Janette right now. She was mean to me.
Marcia
Since you are already planning to give us almost everything I want… Being Juliette is next on my wish list, but anything will be purchased and appreciated.
Paula
I love everything you write and I am SUPER STOKED to see the next Zodiac book.. Hypnos has become my favorite book of yours…. Will there be more Dae?
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Eventually.
Natasha
I was going to put my vote for the Dae as well!
Heather
Serial Princess Killer 2 and more Pepper please. Love your Lowrance Vampires.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Pepper’s already listed as a series finale. Serial Killer Princess 2 is going into a mag rom com archive.
Carole Palmer
Wow! That is an awesome list! I think most of the books already there would have been my choices so I will leave it up to you and whatever (or whoever) starts clamoring in your head that they want the next book. Merry Christmas to you and yours and I hope you have a blast writing in the upcoming year!
Carole Palmer
Okay, I screwed up! Just finished Whiskers on Kittens and discovered I’d forgotten about Client From Hell and the Otter books! So if they fit into your schedule sooner rather than later, I wouldn’t mind. Apparently I’m unlike many of your readers and while it might take me a little longer to get started with some of the series, I have yet to read one I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed! Again, good luck and have a great time writing!
Susan L Latimer
I would love to see the next Vigilante Magical Librarian book. I know it’s not a high priority project due to low feedback, but I love this series!
Pat
TheRoyal States books get my vote! I appreciate your creativity and writing skill in all the series I have read…
Rozanne
Chase the stars, girl! That gets my vote! Whatever you want to write suits me cause your imagination awes me! I have loved all your series, even the ones other people deem “less“ popular. The vampire one was cool and deserves to be finished. I was happy to see the librarian get her conclusian. I see some others on your list getting their just endings as well! All things in their time. Then find yourself a warm place in the sun and enjoy (if thats your pleasure!)
Patti
I apologize if I missed the sequel to Last but not Leashed. If I did not then that would be my wish. Happy Holidays!
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
It will be in a mag rom com anthology in the future.
Shelley Dodge
I am excited for all of the above and hope your eventual vacation is epic and you have a blast planning it. Afterwards I would love more star nosed mole. I love shifter stories with the more unusual animals.
Vaunda
I rejoice that you want to write and will sample all sorts of genres I normally ignore if one of your names is on it.
Robert D Kelly
I want you to have fun. However you choose to do so.
After that, as many Royal States books as you are willing to write.
Mindy in CA
I love the Royal States.
Joan
(Doing my happy book dance) I have a new book to read! (more dance) My favorite author wants to go on a book writing binge!! (happy happy happy)
My cat is chewing on my nose because I’m not paying attention to her.
Seriously, I will happily read anything you write, so go for whatever makes you happy to write. I will admit to loving the royal states, librarians, and
dragons, but I am equally fond of dress designers, werewolves, and bad jokes on angels. (happy dance while grabbing kitty treats…)
Monique
Such an awesome list. I’m looking forward to each and everyone of them. I hope you have a lot of fun and have the time to plan an epic vacation.
Heather
I’m looking forward to Whiskers On Kittens. What about the next Client From Hell? That would a great one 🙂
Charmayn
Hi! I am enjoying Wiskers on kittens, thank you! In answer to your question, I would love to see another book in the Dawn of Dae series, maybe to wrap that one up a little. I would also like some more Dustin Walker adventures, he needs a HEA! LOL Charmayne
Stacey
Anything!!!!! Mainly because I can’t pick…
Alice M
I love everything you write. I especially love the Royal States, but anything is just fine. Take care of yourself.
Judie Cooper
I believe in you!
Lara
I know it is a long way away for you, but come visit Australia – it is a huge country, mostly empty apart from the edges, a great place to relax and unwind (unless you work in publishing and you are coming up to the end of the year!!)
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
I was in Australia for a month in June. Alas, I will not be visiting it again anytime soon. We’re looking to do Europe for our next great adventure.
LIESL MAYLE
I have high hopes for the anthologies to come. (I adore all MagRomCom related books.) I really want to see Client from Hell continued. And someday I’d like book 3 of Vigilante Magical Librarians. The others I’m waiting for are already on your list.
Courtney S
Bernadette Franklin, Client from Hell, and more GP Robbins. Quite frankly, I love the Mag Rom Com series/spin offs, GP Robbins and Bernadette Franklin books. I re-read them frequently because they are my happy place. If I’m stressed, unhappy or just want to have fun, those books are the ones I reach for time and time again. And each time, I discover something new to appreciate.
Kevin McIntire
So my vote is to h Mag Rom Com anthology.
Also Cat Napped had an open ending. Is that going to be addressed in the upcoming books?
Last comment your Magical Rom Comedy series made a list of 6 underrated urban fantasy series on a website called “The Fantasy Review” kudos there. https://thefantasyreviews.com/2023/12/22/6-underrated-urban-fantasy-book-series-you-should-read/
Jessie Keating
Cat napped goes into A Magically Hellish comedy and you catch more of those characters and the labs in it. It is supposed to be a trilogy…I really hope!
Jessie Keating
Good times on your ambitious project!!! You will fly or at least soar before the fall so it will be a graceful fall I am sure. Just no crash, if you think your gonna crash you stop! I love your books too much to accept crash and burn Lol.
As for books…hmmm….anything is good. But I really love Satin (Satan) and the asshole angels so more of any of those types of characters would be great. Put them in whatever world you want tho, I have faith! Lol
