As I was tired, life was happening, etc, I did not finish the good news / bad news game yesterday. That’s okay, I’m not terribly sorry about it. So, let’s get right down to it.
150 Days to 100k
Good news: I haven’t forgotten about it. I’ve even made some progress on it. I have the new book one cover of the series conceptualized, and once my designer’s hand heals from an accident, she’ll paint it, and I’ll be able to show it to you.
Bad news: I probably won’t be able to work on it until after my research trip. I have ALL the busy right now.
Bad News: I’ve started over from the very very beginning, and well, I’m not going to burden you with the step by step ‘oops, this isn’t working, let’s try again’ elements.
Extra Bad News: I won’t be back until I have a chapter 1 I actually like and wish to keep.
Magic, Mayhem, and the Law in Precinct #153 / Whispers (Magical Mysteries in Mundane Miami) / GP Robbins
Good news: I’m actively working on the spinoff series in Mundane Miami!
Bad news: This is going to be a bit of a bear to write.
Good news: I might release the first book in the series alongside Game On, which is Book 3 of the other GP Robbin Series.
Bad news: this pen name will be chaos as usual, since all the books in this world seem to insist on being over 120k words long.
Playing with Fire
Good news: I just sent the files over to the audiobook producer so Kira Grace can do an audiobook version of the book.
Bad news: this version of the audiobook will only be available through the Patreon store.
Good News / Bad News: This is being done because I want to, so it’s coming out of my personal pocket.
Bad news: It’s highly improbable that I will be rerecording Burn Baby Burn at this time. It’s too complicated, and while Cameron Hill would make for a fabulous Quinn, the technical requirements for stitching together the audiobook files when one narrator works with my production company and the other does not is just not something I can deal with right now.
However, in a possible good news, I will ask Cameron if he’s willing to do the file assemblies; if he replies with yes, then I may move forward with having the book redone.
Bad News: This would be a 2026-2027 project at the earliest.
Failed Colony
Good News: This is going to be the next book I work on as I have time for main production. This was originally in one of the Pets in Space anthologies, and readers of the anthology got the first arc of the book. The second arc of the book will continue developing the characters, the story, and expanding on the failed colonies in the universe.
Bad News: I had wanted it to be ready for Christmas 2025, but I don’t think that is going to be happening unless my research trip goes a LOT better than I’m honestly expecting on the writing front.
Neighbors
Good News: We have new neighbors. Haven’t met them.
Bad News: They are moving in today, RIP neighbors, good luck.
(It’s warm outside, and I don’t think they’re using movers.)
Susan Copperfield Stuff
Bad News: I’m scrambling to finish Dragon Her Heels and Grave Intentions on time, so I have not had a lot of time for Susan books. (Sorry.)
Good News: I’m working on one actively, but it’s not the next one I’m supposed to be releasing. I might reorder things a little or do a back to back release (holding one back) to preserve series order.
Good News: Yes, Deidre’s book is up next. Please stop panicking about Deidre’s book. She will not be the POV character, however. You get Eddie as POV character instead. Eddie is more interesting as the POV character for reasons involving the RPS.
Bad News: I will probably stop to smell the roses with some Agents of the Royal States stuff before actually doing Deidre’s book.
Rose Valley Murders
Good and Bad News: (Bad) While I am no longer participating in Pets in Space due to length restrictions within the anthology itself, (Good) I will be continuing the universe, The first novel to be released in the same world without it first appearing in the anthology will be the Rose Valley Murders. It is about a space faring detective, and interstellar law enforcement will be introduced in it.
This falls into the passion project category, and while I would love if I could slide it into the 2026 schedule, it’s unlikely that will be the case.
That’s all for this installment of Good News / Bad News, I have a lot to get done today and little time to get it done in.
Have a good weekend!
I love all of your books, so I just do a happy dance whenever you release one. Enjoy your trip xxx
