Greetings, folks!
In an effort to get out of my multi-year reading slump, I’ve started doing blind reads of books.
Shopping by the cover and description (with very basic checks for things I strongly dislike) has been the flavor of the day.
I’m attempting to do a non-fiction and a fiction book each month.
Here are my January 2026 reads!
Note: I have not finished reading these, so I’m not reviewing them. This is just what I’m reading. (But spoiler alert, I have no burning desire to DNF either of these books.)
I’ll start with the non-fiction.
I am reading The Ship Beneath the Ice by Menson Bound. This is about the hunt for Shackleton’s Endurance in the Antarctic. It’s absolutely fascinating so far.
For the fiction title, I’m reading Rings of Fate by Melissa de la Cruz. I got a copy from the Book of the Month Club, as that is my fiction book resource for the next twelve months.
I am not really a fan of present tense books, but it’s tolerable as far as present tense books go, so take that as you will. I’m on page 26, so I’ve finished a chapter and that’s about it.
Your mileage will vary. It’s a dual POV in first person, and that part I DO like.
Onto the site updates:
I am setting up single site domains for my pen names so people who don’t appreciate the blog element can go bookmark the sites and just see what books are out in which series. It’s a work in progress, but the framework of the first few sites are live, which you can find here:
I will be continuing to work on the site here, but these sites are other options for those who want something similar and with less direct contact with me.
Because yes, yes it is okay to not get involved with authors directly!
These sites are for those who want info without direct contact.
You can also follow my various author personalities on Bookbub here:
Note: I will be doing updates to my bookbubs to make sure all the books are added, etc… it’s just a lot of work and there is only one of me, so please be patient.
Happy reading!
Reminder: Burn, Baby, Burn is still on sale for $0.99 for a short period of time. (Another week.)
I so appreciate all you are doing for us as readers and customers. I would love to know more about your print books as I do stock you as an author in my bookstore in all of you names as well as enjoy reading your books myself. If you haven’t yet, you might enjoy books by Alice Hoffman. She doesn’t disappoint. Thank you.
You should be seeing a return of many of my titles to Ingram in February / March; I need to get caught up on writing Death Dance. The Ingram books will all have the fancy embedded edges, I just need to get to a point I can take 2-3 days off from writing to get all the uploads and formatting done!
Do feel free to reach out on the contact form! I’ll tell my PA to keep an eye for a message from you. I have swag and stuff, and I can send some signed book plates, for your shop.
Also, please do tell me where your shop is located; if I’m in the area, I’m happy to swing by and show your shop some love!
My first R. J. Blain was Hoofin It. It was a BookBub option at the time. Loved it, read anything else out that i could find and evrything since. BookBub has been a good place to check since then too.
