Greetings, folks. There seems to be a lot of confusion on the nature of paperbacks. I’d like to take many moments to resolve this. (We won’t discuss how long it took me to get this ready this morning.)
Paperback editions on Amazon typically release 1-2 months after the eBook edition. This is because I need final designs and so on from myself and the designer, and this takes time. The process starts when I have the finalized version of the book. (On rare occasion, the paperback actually publishes at the same time as the eBook.)
Sometimes, it takes longer.
Ingram editions (Barnes & Noble, etc) have been mostly on hold for this reason:
I can sell a book on Amazon, of similar quality, for $18. Or I can sell it on Ingram for $26-30.
Also, please DO note that if you are interested in buying print in Amazon, please go do so now; Amazon HAS increased prices for things, too, though not NEARLY as severely as Ingram has. As such, it’s on the to-do list for next week to correct prices. I do not expect many books to go over $19.99, but it is possible. (The ones that go over will be the really really long ones like Water Viper.)
The reality is, Ingram has priced me completely out of paperback editions. This is super stressful for me. I get that people don’t like it. I don’t like it. That’s how I get print books into libraries.
Libraries have, for the most part, stopped buying since the price hike.
They were willing to do indies for $19-22. They aren’t for $26-30. (On the flip side, these same libraries have started buying more of my books in eBook edition, so I’m not even mad.)
So, for those of you who have been claiming you cannot buy my books in print, here is where you can buy my books in print (via Amazon), presented in random order:
Yes, I understand there are those of you who don’t want to order from Amazon, but for print editions… please just order from Amazon. Once upon a time, Ingram had better print quality. That has significantly changed in recent times, and Ingram is really not worth paying double the price for.
I apologize for the formatting of this chart, but this way only cost me part of my sanity instead of all of it. Please note that Amazon is awful and will prioritize books oddly. Check the “see used and new” for the actual affordable versions if the price appears to be horrific. (Amazon showcases the edition for $343 instead of the brand new copies for $19.99, for example… and I have no way to link to the affordable one only.)
There are two books that need to be put in print edition and only two books. Happy tattooed tree reading, everyone! (And yes, the two not in print are in progress of being put into print. I do not have an ETA.)
Thank you I ordered the 3 paperbacks that I didn’t already have.
Question- does Ingrams nonsense mean that the finishing of 4×6 paperback prints for the series already printed in those sizes now not happening? Because I’ve got like all of the Magical realm series that were released in the size and I dislike having different sizes/formats if I can help it 😫
Those would (very literally) cost $35-50 each. It’s just absolutely not viable to print that size anymore.
I’ll do an FAQ and further explanations post on the print size issue to help make it more understandable what’s going on and why.
