Thanks to Amazon’s less than stellar ability to control fraud, this scamster has used a generative AI cover (Oh fuck that thing is so fucking ugly/vile) to create a scam–and they applied to have their shit version merged with mine, so they are overlapping. I have contacted Amazon. Please do NOT do anything about it, as the partial merging means you will be lashing out at the actual book and not the scammer.
The fake version of the book is currently priced at $14.99. The real version has my cover and is priced at $0.99.
Please excuse me while I go to a corner and scream.
And to the ethically depraved asshole who did this… fuck you. That’s all I have to say about it.
But, since we’re here… this is an EXCELLENT example of what AI covers from talentless asshats looks like. They can’t create their own books, so they resort to theft.
When you say merged – what is that actually?
I bought my copy of Booked for Murder in August 2020.
If I download it to my iPad, do I still get your edition?
And the fake copy cover is UGLY!
Anna O
You *should* still get my edition, but if you don’t, please leave a comment via the contact form through the top menu, that way I can talk to Amazon about it and make sure it gets fixed. So far, my copy is okay, but I’m… indescribably angry right now.
Disgusting fraud. The cover is IS ugly and untrue to how I remember the character dressing. Also wrong glasses. I’ll look carefully at Game on image when it comes out. Hope apt inspection went smoothly.
That should have been taken care of by Amazon. They make a fuss about misspelling. You’d think they would take pirating worse and do something about it. They just want the money. Disgusting
Yeeeep. Amazon gets exactly one chance to remove the fraudulent book. After that, they get an attorney aimed their way. They have my copyright certificate number, and I have told them to remove the book.
It just might take them a few days. But the merging/overriding my book stuff is noooootttt okay. And I let them know it.
That is awful, not only stealing your intellectual copyright, but that artwork? I don’t know if you can sue Amazon but they must be able to give you and a lawyer the contact for this thief so you can sue them directly?
